RONALD BORTHWICK TOWNSLEY Ronald Borthwick Townsley, March 1, 1932, suddenly and peacefully passed away January 10, 2005 at the Grace Hospital. He will be fondly remembered by his wife Sheila; Brother Bryan (Joyce) of B.C.; his nieces, Cathy Farrant (Alan) and Carol Garry (Andy) from Winnipeg, Maureen (Jason) of BC; and many extended family, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Charles Townsley; mother Annie (Thomas); brothers, James Charles of Winnipeg and George of Montreal. Ron was born in Fort Rouge and moved at an early age to Charleswood, where he obtained his education. Upon leaving school he was employed for a short period of time at the T. Eaton Company and then the C.N.R. Railway, until his retirement in 1989. Known as the Senator, Ron was an avid reader and maintained a keen interest in global politics until the end of his life. For the last few years, Ron held court at Nick's Cafe in Headingly. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to those who aided and attended him in his final hours. Ron has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Voyage Funeral Home, 1531 Pembina Hwy., at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 15.
