JOAN ZOLDY (nee BARBARA JOAN SANGSTER) We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our dear mother and grandmother on January 7, 2005. Mom was born on March 26, 1938 in Port Mouton, NS, and was raised in Thunder Bay, ON. She married and raised her family in River Hills, MB, retired to Victoria, BC, and eventually settled in Abbottsford, BC. Mom was survived by her four children, Marilyn (Sheldon), Mark (Mike), Carol (Brian), and Russell (Bonnie). She is survived by eleven grandchildren, Evan and Patrick, Alexandra, Chainelle, Robert, Courtney, and Taylor, Eric, Nicolas, Melissa, and Jessica. She is also survived by her mother Evelyn Sangster; her sister Deanna Tod (Tom); her sister-in-law Margaret Winters (Ralph); and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father Allison Sangster. After seeing her youngest child off to school, Mom decided to re-enter the workforce. Mom was an avid reader and that combined with her pre-marital work experience as the record librarian at CKY radio led her to becoming the Whitemouth School librarian. There she kept an eye on her kids, introduced many people to many different authors, but most importantly made many friends. After leaving there, she turned her attention to her grandchildren and her hobbies. Her many works of cross-stitch and knitting grace her families' homes. Mom also loved to travel and Bingo was another favourite past-time. There was a small private gathering in her memory on Wednesday, January 12, in Abbottsford. A memorial service will follow in Winnipeg, MB, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29 at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St, Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined but if you so wish, you can make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or Afrique 2007: Students Without Borders, c/o College Jeanne-Sauve, 1128 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB R2N 3T8. For further information, contact Marilyn Joyal at (204) 255-4556.
