He leaves to mourn, besides his wife of 64 years of marriage; his son Marc (Barbara); three grandchildren, Colette (Edward), Jean-Paul (Tanya) and Andre (Tammy); five foster grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis and Joseph (Georgina); sisters-in-law, Angie, Georgette and Doris (Joe); brother-in-law Philias (Betty); and many other extended family and friends. Victor was predeceased by his parents, Jules and Louise Mager; two sisters, Ernestine and Juliette; brothers, Felix, Emile, Wilfred, Camille, Maurice, Paul and Edward; and his infant grandson Michael. Victor was born April 5, 1916 and grew up in St. Vital. Employed by Canada Packers for approximately four years, he left to pursue his passion as a farmer. He farmed for seven years in Maryfield, SK.; six years in St. Charles; and worked as a flood inspector for three major Manitoba floods. For 43 years, Victor and his family resided in St. Charles, where he was an active parishioner of the St. Charles Catholic Church, serving many years on Parish Council and was also one of the founders of St. Charles Bingo. Anyone, who knew Victor, knew of his passion, not only for his family, but for his gardening as well. He enjoyed each spring, tilling his seven acres and mingling with fellow gardeners. Always very giving of himself and his time, he is an example to all he leaves behind. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 18 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St. with Rev. Msgr. Michael L. Moore presiding. Interment will follow in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donation in Victor's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
