JOHN TOEWS December 11, 1928 - January 13, 2005 We sadly announce the passing of John Toews at Bethania Personal Care Home after a courageous battle with alzheimers, diabetes and cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Tina (nee Giesbrecht); daughters, Marilyn, Barb and Lynda; son Vern; son-in-law Ted; and his grandchildren, Tim, Jeremy and Ryan; John was predeceased by his grandson Greg; his father Diedrich Toews; his mother Annie Friesen; and two stepmothers, Mary Peters and Tina Friesen. John grew up on a small farm near Horndean, MB. He moved to Winnipeg and married Tina in 1955. He worked for the City of Winnipeg Parks for 33 years. After retirement he enjoyed gardening and taking long walks. At Bethania, he was well liked for his bass singing and his great sense of humour, in spite of his physical suffering. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethania Personal Care Home Chapel with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. If friends desire donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Friends of the Family in charge of arrangements. Ph. 222-8080 (Walter Klassen).
