CYRIL (CY) ELCOCK 1920 - 2005 Suddenly on Friday, January 14, 2005, at his residence, Cyril (Cy) Elcock passed away at the age of 84 years. Cy is survived by his wife Margaret (Pat) of 55 years; daughters, Cheryl (Bob), Debbie, Patti (Jerry) and son Robert (Debbie); 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; brothers, Sam of Pinawa, MB, Eric in England; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Lily; his sister Lily; and brothers, Edward (Ted) and George. Cy was born out on the prairie, which is now known as King Edward Street on January 31, 1920. Cy enlisted in the United Kingdom on October 5, 1940. He served as a SPR in the R.C.E. (Canadian Division) in the United Kingdom, Spitzbergen, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. In 1945, he was discharged in Canada. Cy worked very hard at the Canada Safeway Milk Plant for 33 years as a cottage cheese maker and pasteurizer. During his time he won the Lily Cup award trophy for the best cottage cheese in Manitoba several times between 1964 and 1974. He enjoyed gardening, oil painting and being a chauffeur for all of his grandchildren. Cy was very, very proud of all his grandchildren. During this time of loss, the family wishes to thank the Emergency Response Team, and the Winnipeg Police Services for their extremely kind, compassionate and professional assistance. In accordance with Cy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 18 at 12:30 p.m. at General Sir Sam Steele Legion Branch No. 117, 376 Salter Street. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cy's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
