ELIZABETH (BETTY) S. REED 1947 - 2005 Peacefully, Betty passed away in the early hours of the morning of January 15, 2005. She was predeceased by her beloved mum Nadia in 2002; her dad Joseph in 1966; and brother Claude. Betty leaves to mourn her brother Don Reed (Patti Sullivan); beloved cat Cassie; and many friends, extended family and cheerleaders. Betty enjoyed an extensive nursing career in Winnipeg and California. As an ICU nurse at St. Boniface Hospital, Betty always provided the best possible care and support to her patients and families. She found working at McEwan especially rewarding. During her ICU years in California, she made many lifelong friends. She loved movies, music, Steve Martin, animals, children and piano. While Betty faced unique challenges in her life, she was given the special gift of friendship because of her great people skills. The difficulties of the past few years were eased by the support of friends and family. Special thanks to the unsung heroes and heroines in Betty's life too numerous to mention them all. These include Sherry, Glenna, Cathy, Freda and Dr. Craig Hildahl. Betty appreciated her visits with cousins Lorne, George, Carol and godson Jason. With the support of the Home Care system, technical support and wonderful staff Betty remained in her own home until the end of her life. Betts, we will miss you and love you. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow.
