JOHN EDWARD (ED) HOOPER January 13, 1914 - January 17, 2005 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Edward (Ed) Hooper, aged 91 of Winnipeg, MB, beloved husband of Violet. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Robert and Annie; brothers, Joseph, James, George and his wife Del, and William (Amos) and his wife Mildred; his sister Mary and her husband Phil Squarie; sister-in-law Marion Hooper, Olive Hooper, brother-in-law Charles Denniston, and Robert Wright and his wife Florence. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Violet, of 59 years; his four daughters, Grace (Ermel), Muriel (Carl), Joyce (Bob) and Valerie (Bill); four sons, John (Jane), Don (Louise), Ron (Pat) and Joe (Kim); 18 grandchildren, Susan, Edward, Cory, Melissa, Robert, Amanda, Ryan, Kathy, Grant, Kristy, Reid, Jessica, and Cassidy, Ryan, Steven, Riley, Taylor-Rae, Chelsea; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Caitlin, Alyssa, Marshall, Zachary, Dawson, Connor, and Holden; brothers, Bob, and Stan both of Winnipeg, Earle and wife Phyllis of Gladstone, and sister Alice, of Ottawa. Ed was born at Gladstone, MB on January 13, 1914. He lived at Woodside and farmed there until moving to Mayfield, where he also farmed until 1955. Ed and Violet then moved to Winnipeg where Ed worked for Fleming-Pedlar Ltd., which he enjoyed for 22 years. He retired in 1977. In accordance with Ed's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at The Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple at 825 School Rd. at Ness Avenue at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22. A graveside service and interment will follow on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., January 23 at the Gladstone Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends and family so wish, donations may be made in Ed's memory to The Salvation Army or charity of their choice. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Golden West Lodge, and Dr. Martin and the nursing staff at the Grace Hospital, for their loving care and professional support.
