Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE ALLAN LILLIES 1910 - 2005 Leslie (Les) Lillies, of Stonewall, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Tuesday, January 18, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born on April 29, 1910, and was the eldest child of Oscar and Edna (May) Lillies who were pioneer residents of Rockwood municipality. Les is lovingly remembered by his family, Linda and husband Don Hamilton of Edmonton, Allan and wife Lynda of Calgary, June and husband Richard Nelles of Winnipeg, Bonnie and husband Clifford Falk of Vancouver and Keith and wife Dawn-Lynn McTaggart of Teulon; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Anderson of Stonewall and Edna Pinniger of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his loving wife Joyce in 1996. Also predeceased by his sisters, Frances and Agnes Lillies, Vivian Harcus, Lillian Brownrigg; and brother Tom. After graduating from Stonewall Collegiate, Les began farming. He married Joyce Sinclair in 1943 and they lived and raised their family on their turkey farm at Balmoral while taking an active role in the community. He valued education and served many years on the Balmoral School Board. He was a life member of the Balmoral Curling Club and a charter member of the Teulon Golf Club. He retired to Stonewall in 1986, and at the time of his death was a resident of the Stonewall and District Lions Manor. Les enjoyed excellent health in his senior years and was still hunting, golfing, travelling and making music well into his 90s. He will be remembered as a man of gentleness, generosity, integrity and intelligence who lived life with joy and purpose. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stonewall United Church. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Stonewall United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of one's choice.
