Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY (ELIZABETH) GIRVITZ (nee SCHREYER) September 26, 1912 - January 19, 2005 Peacefully on January 19, 2005, Betty Girvitz passed away at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour at 92 years of age. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband, Alex Girvitz (December 17, 1984); sisters, Martha Naylor (October 24, 1910 - August 1997), Victoria Howard (April 17, 1923 - September 21, 1992) and Johanna Wazny (October 9, 1925 - September 26, 1961). Betty will be sadly missed by her sister Helen Wucherer of Toronto (February 24, 1915); sister-in-law, Edythe Granite of Toronto, brother-in-law Lawrence Racklin as well as many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Betty was well known as a wonderful cook, hard worker and loving and devoted helpmate to her husband Alex Girvitz. Betty and Alex shared many wonderful years together building their farm and stockyard business and in later years, their locker plant in Beausejour. They were always there for their family, their community and many charities. Beausejour Hospital benefited from their generosity with equipment donated by Alex and Betty. Many bake sale and perogy contributions went into the building fund for the Beausejour Senior Centre. Funeral services were held January 20 at Congregation Etz Chayim with interment at Rosh Pina. Pallbearers were Bren Madden, Brendan Madden, Ted Wazny, Oris Wazny, Bernie Wazny, Barry Howard, Rick Howard and Brian Hrynyk. Many thanks to Barry Howard, nurses and staff at Stony Plains and East Gate Lodge for their long term dedication and devotion to Betty. Thank you to Rabbi Balzer and the synagogue staff for their wonderful assistance. Appreciation and thanks to those from outside of Winnipeg attending Betty's services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
