Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZELEEN ANNA WILSON (nee HALVORSON) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Anna Wilson at Concordia Hospital on Monday, January 17, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey Dean Wilson and her parents, Harold and Hazel Halvorson. Remaining to cherish her memory are her sister Jane Talnicoff and her husband Daniel; her brothers, Herwin, Harold, Harvest and Henry Halvorson; as well as her niece Kristina Halvorson. Anna will also be missed by her childhood friend Bea Huppe and her friend Marge Harrison. Anna also had several long time friends in the United States. Anna's first job was working in the Life Insurance Department at Eaton's. She was regarded as a competent administrator during her years of employment at several firms and rose to the position of executive secretary to the Director of the Children's Aid Society, which she held until her retirement. Anna was born in Winnipeg on December 30, 1931. She married Harvey Wilson on December 7, 1957. Anna and Harvey enjoyed the outdoors and spent many pleasurable hours camping, fishing, and berry picking with their most loved golden lab, Mr. Chips. Anna and Harvey also enjoyed many happy hours listening to and cataloging their extensive vinyl record collection. Anna found it fun to collect the autographs of the various celebrities who used to visit Winnipeg in the 50's, such as The Mills Brothers, Lena Horne, Billy Eckstein, and many more. Anna was an accomplished seamstress and spent numerous happy hours at her sewing machine. Anna also had a keen interest in her Scandinavian heritage and she enjoyed cooking the foods of her culture. After Harvey's death at age 45, Anna chose to stay at home and led a very quiet life. She enjoyed her flowers, plants, gardening, and family visits. She particularly relied upon Herwin's help which allowed her to remain in her home. Anna also enjoyed preserving the many bouquets of wild and fresh flowers that Henry brought her on his frequent visits from Anola. Anna's family extends a very special thank you to Concordia Hospital and in particular to the Intensive Care Unit for their kind and compassionate care during Anna's last weeks. A special thank you to Amanda Adams-Fryatt who sang Silent Night to Anna at the hospital on Christmas Day! A private family funeral was held in the chapel at Green Acres Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m. We were blessed to have Pastor Rick Sauer officiating, providing us with great comfort and instilling inner peace, and Michele Barr providing us with beautiful music. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Anna's memory to the Manitoba Cancer Society, the Humane Society, or to a charity of one's choice. Rest in Peace dear loving sister. The Mansion of Heaven This world, however beautiful, was never meant to be The place that we would call our home for all eternity. And though we would not choose to leave, A loving God knows best, And in His time, He lifts us to a place of peace and rest. For He has built a mansion where His children will abide, Free from pain and sorrow, forever at His side. He said He'd never leave us to face our trials alone, And though sometimes we fail Him, He never fails His own. And even when our choices are less than He would ask, He knows when human courage is unequal to the task. We cannot judge what happens, Though tears and questions start- We only see what's visible- God sees into the heart... And though there may be many things That we cannot explain, We can be sure it breaks His heart To see His children's pain. In loving arms, He bears us to a quiet place apart Where He mends the wounded spirit And heals the broken heart. And though these ones we love so much Have left our present sight And passed into a better world of majesty and light, Someday we'll be together in our Father's home above, Where we'll thank Him for His mercy And praise Him for His love.
