JOSEPH CELESTIN MAILLARD peacefully on January 19, 2005 our beloved father passed away at the Ste. Rose General Hospital. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister Marie Jamault; his sister-in-law Margaret; his son Rene (Cynthia); daughters, Janet Whitley (Don), Lorraine Langtry (Richard) and Raymonde Mott (Morris). His grandchildren, Shari Shankaruk (Richard), Carla and Rheal Maillard, Janelle and Danielle Whitley, Michael and Christie Langtry, Jennifer Carlson (Darren), Shelley and Ken Mott. As well as his great-grandchildren, Brady, Taylor, Avery, Abbi and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his wife Marguerite (nee Jutras); grandson Joey Maillard; and brother Louis. Joseph, the eldest son of Leon and Elizabeth Maillard, was born in Ste. Rose du Lac on June 13, 1910. In 1939, he married Marguerite Jutras and together they provided a loving, supportive home for a growing family. His passions included flying, spending time in Palm Springs or at the family cottage in Ochre Beach, and travelling. He will be remembered for his kind generous heart, his strong independence and ingenuity. His entrepreneurial nature led him to play an active role in several business ventures. The Brandon Woolen Mills, Ste. Rose Creamery, Ste. Rose Lumber and Supply, Redi Built Homes, ranching and Dauphin Broadcasting, just to name a few. Actively involved in the community, he served as councillor and mayor of Ste. Rose as well as a board director of the Ste. Rose General Hospital. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, he was instrumental in establishing the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home. The family wishes to thank Dr. O'Hagan and the staff at the Ste. Rose General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. As well a sincere thank you Karen and Roger Schappert, his caregivers for many years. The celebration of his life will be held January 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Internment to follow at the Ste. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home, Box 420 or the Prevost Foundation Box 60, both in Ste. Rose du Lac, R0L 1S0.
