THOMAS FREDERICK KULBABA September 20, 1924 - January 3, 2005 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing Tom Kulbaba on Monday, January 3, 2005 in Kelowna, BC at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by his former wife Helen, he will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Nora Legge Kulbaba; his five sons, Ernie (Pauline), David (Carolyne), Andy, Don (Karen), Marvin (Natalie); grandchildren, Terri Butz (Troy), Craig, Christina, Kayla and Kenzie; great-grandson Jordan. Also, left to remember is his stepdaughter Lorraine (Pete) McBeath, stepson Raymond Willey, stepson Doug (Diane) Willey, stepdaughter Karen (Rick) Nickol; stepgrandchildren, Dan, Andrea, Douglas, Darcy; and stepgreat-grandchild Morgan James. Tom was predeceased by his brothers, Nick (Ann), Mike (Nellie); and sister Nellie Pleskacz (Anton). He is survived by his sister Ann Dolenuck and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Tom was born on the family farm near Sand Hill, MB. He served in the army during the Second World War from 1941 to 1946. He spent many years in Winnipeg, working as a bus driver for 34 years with the Winnipeg Transit System. He always enjoyed the daily interactions with both his regulars and newcomers on his bus routes. He spent many years volunteering in the Men's League at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Shortly after retirement, he headed to the warmer sunny climate of the Okanagan Valley, living in both Penticton and Kelowna. Both in Winnipeg and Kelowna, he was known for always being there to help others or just to have a chat. Over the last couple of years, Dad could be seen on his daily walks with his dog Candy, to feed the birds or to take Candy in the basket of his scooter for rides. Needless to say, he struck up many conversations on his treks. Dad was a firm believer in seeing the good in everyone and respecting peoples' feelings. He was extremely proud of all his children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments. He liked nothing better than spending time playing cards or just visiting with friends and family. Although he has lived for quite a few years in British Columbia, he has always maintained contact with friends and family in Winnipeg. He had a special relationship with his nephew George (Olga) Dolenuck. Following his request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. He wanted to be remembered as people last saw him. For those who wish, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory. A mass will be said in his name in Winnipeg at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Jefferson and Main, on February 12 at 5:30 p.m.
