Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS JEAN LAURANS Louis Jean Laurans went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 20, 2005 with his family by his side at the Portage District General Hospital, Portage la Prairie. He was born on October 8, 1922 at Lac Vert, SK. He leaves to mourn his wife Josephine, of 47 years; son Brent (Mona), grandchildren, Jennifer, Dean and Robyn; son Kim (Marna), grandchildren, Riley and Taylor; sister Augustine; brother Henry (Alice); and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Adele and Jean; son Landon; brothers, Pierre, Jean and Frank; and sisters, Marie, Josephine, Louise and Angela. Louis was raised in the Kermaria area where he worked and farmed for several years before moving to Manitoba in 1968. He then did carpentry until he semi-retired in 1987 and fully retired in 1997. Louis enjoyed music, dancing, cribbage, curling and especially being with family. He found much pleasure in travelling abroad and driving the camper-van on trips throughout Canada and the Northern United States. Prayer service will be at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S, Portage la Prairie on Monday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Deacon Bill Parrack. Memorial service will be at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave. E, Portage la Prairie on Tuesday, January 25 at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Michael Wollbaum. Internment will be at a later date at the Kermaria Church, St. Brieux, SK. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Building Fund, 115 Countess Ave., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0T3 or charity of one's choice.
