BRIAN WHITWELL Peacefully, surrounded by family while on vacation, Brian passed away in Nanaimo, BC, on January 12, 2005. Brian is dearly missed by his loving wife Anne; son Derek (Sonja); daughters, Sherri (Chris) and Romey (Sheldon) and their mother Doreen; Anne's children, Sharon (Andreas) and Phillip; grandchildren, Jordan, Brianne, Molly, Vaughn, Zachary and Heiko; sisters, Romey (Bryan) and Connie (Norman); and nephews in the U.K. He was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Edith. Brian was born in Tynemouth, England, on October 13, 1931. He was in the British Military (REME) and during this time he served in Turkey and Malta. After serving five years, he immigrated to Canada. Once in Winnipeg, he worked as an electrician for City Hydro/Manitoba Hydro and retired after 34 years of service. Once retired, Brian and Anne enjoyed travelling especially to Mesa, AZ, and throughout Canada, also visiting with friends and family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Nanaimo Hospital and Ron Yates from Yates Funeral Services for all their care and compassion. A celebration of Brian's life will be held on Monday, January 24 at 3:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A private interment will take place.
