DONALD JAMES FLETCHER HADFIELD (DON ) After a lengthy illness, Don passed away on January 18, 2005 at the age of 73. He is survived by his sister Verona Schattner; nephew Glen (Anita) Schattner and their children Sarah, Benjamin and Donald; nieces Lynn (Roy) Norton and their children, Derek and Adam and Lisa Schattner. Don was born on October 23, 1931 in Winnipeg, MB. He taught music at Machray School from 1957 to 1961, St. Johns High School from 1961 to 1965 and Churchill High between 1967 to 1987. He started his career as a choir boy and then began taking organ lessons. His first position while he was in high school was at St. James Anglican Church, followed by St. Aidans, St. John's Cathedral, All Saints Anglican (30 years), St. Matthias in Montreal, St. Philips, St. Luke's and Holy Trinity. Don was very involved with his music career, in teaching and musical productions. His contribution to the music community was greatly appreciated. His music was his life. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or to a charity of your choice.
