Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMIL BUDNICK It is with great sadness that the family of Emil Budnick announces his passing on Friday, January 21, 2005. Emil was a kind and loving father to his children and grandchildren, who were a source of pride and satisfaction to him and his wife Evelyn. His wife Evelyn Budnick (Krajarski) predeceased him on February 19, 2001. He is survived by his sister Natalie Kovalevitch (aged 96); his son Paul (Barbara); daughters, Carol and Louise Bellhouse (David); granddaughters, Christine Budnick (Scott Reynolds) and Karen Budnick (Frank Baldwin), Erika and Laura Bellhouse; and great-grandson, Dawson Reynolds. Emil was born on October 1, 1915 in Winnipeg, where he lived his entire life. Until his retirement, Emil worked hard to support his family through the various businesses he owned and managed, including a shoe store and an insurance agency. Music was an important part of his life. He had a fine tenor voice and he loved to sing. This love of music and, the arts in general, he passed on to his children and grandchildren. With his wife, Evelyn, he enjoyed attending the symphony, opera and ballet. Evelyn accompanied him on the piano when he sang. After his retirement he and Evelyn performed with the Happy Homesteaders choral group. Emil and Evelyn met on the tennis court and Emil continued to play tennis into his 70's with his children and grandchildren. Besides his pleasure in music, Emil enjoyed the theatre, square dancing, curling, fishing, golf and making jewelry. Evelyn's love of travel took Emil throughout North America and to Mexico, Hawaii, Europe, Russia, and Australia. Right up until his death Emil was continuing to learn new songs. The last three years of Emil's life were enriched by the friendship of Doris Findlay, a fine pianist, who accompanied him, encouraged him to learn new songs and taught him to play cribbage. The family would like to thank Dr. John Moncek and the staff of level three, unit seven of the Seven Oaks General Hospital for making him comfortable during his short stay there. We would also like to thank the Age Opportunity Centre and the Home Care staff at the Kiwanis Chateau. A memorial celebration of Emil's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage, entrance on Aubrey Street. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Emil may be made to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, 101-555 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1C3 or a charity of your choice.
