PHILIP EUGENE AUSTMAN (JEEP) April 16, 1929 - January 21, 2005 Peacefully, on January 21, 2005, surrounded by his family, Eugene passed into the arms of our Lord. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis, and children, Garry (Nettie), Robert, Christine Bennett (Lenny), Audrey Ilyniak, and Judy Hrabarchuk (Terry). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Eric (Sheri), Rebecca, Jordan, Matthew, Carissa, Dana, Hillary, and Taylor; as well as numerous other relatives. Eugene was born in Selkirk on April 16, 1929. As a young man, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. His career as a heavy equipment operator then took him to a variety of places. He worked on the DEW Line in the Arctic, gas pipelines, railroads and many other projects. Dad enjoyed coffee and conversation with family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed auto mechanics. He also enjoyed watching the grandchildren's sporting events. Dad was a 30 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. The family wishes to thank Dr. Cheung and all the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital who provided care. Viewing and prayers on Tuesday, January 25, 8:00 p.m., funeral service on Wednesday, January 26, 10:00 a.m. both at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers and to pay tribute to Eugene's concern for those less fortunate, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
