Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIA JAKIELA 1915 - 2005 It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing, on January 21, 2005, of our beloved wife, mama, babcia, sister and aunt, at the age of 89, into the arms of Jesus for her eternal rest. Julia will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 54 years, Wladzio; daughter Donna and husband Paul Courteau, children, Meghan and Danny, Morgan, Kyle, Gabrielle and Stephen; son John and wife Anne, daughters, Julia and Andrea; sister Stasia and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jan and Michalina Mazur and her sister Eugenia. Julia was born in Winnipeg on December 10, 1915 and at a young age her family returned to Poland. There she received her schooling and became a teacher. Julia met Wladzio before the war while he was in the army and then they lost touch with each other throughout the war. After the war, Julia returned to Winnipeg with her younger sister. Always searching for her Wladzio , she finally located him in Bolton, England with the help of the Red Cross. Wladzio finally arrived in Canada in November 1949 and Julia married the love of her life' on January 6, 1950 at Holy Ghost Church. When their son and daughter were born their children became the centre of her life. Mama loved flowers and her garden and was able to enjoy them until her debilitating stroke in July. She also was a wonderful cook and everyone had to eat something when they were there. Mama loved her family to visit and her seven grandchildren were the core of my parent's love and existence. Each child had a special name and until the very end of mama's life she still remembered them all. We will all miss her terribly. The family would like to thank Home Care Services, RR6 - Rehabilitation Hospital, The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, and St. Joseph's Residence for caring for Julia with such compassion since July 2004. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 26 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at St. Joseph's Residence, 1149 Leila Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Private family interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arthritis Society of Manitoba or The Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
