AMAZING GRACE ROSINA MAGNACCA (nee JONES) On December 20, 2004, Grace passed away peacefully at Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 103. Grace was born in Cardiff, Wales, on November 22, 1901, the eldest of six children, to parents James and Rosina Jones. Her family came to Winnipeg in 1911 to take up a new life. Grace graduated from Dominion Business College and worked at Stovel Advocate and NorWest Farmer until she married her beloved husband Steve Magnacca in 1927. They lived in Winnipeg with their children Patricia and Allan until Steve's military career took them to Brandon in 1942. Grace was a dedicated partner to Steve during his military and business career, his term as Mayor and many other activities in the community. Grace and Steve were both active in St. Matthew's Church in Winnipeg and St. Matthew's Cathedral in Brandon where Grace was made a Life Member of the Anglican Church Women's Auxiliary. Grace returned to Winnipeg in 1983 following the death of her husband Steve in 1980 to be closer to her family Pat and Bill Coleman and children. She resided at Lion's Place, then a short time in Kiwanis Courts and moved to Golden West in 1995. Grace was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, always dividing special holiday times with her family in Winnipeg and Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON. She travelled to London, England in 1991 to celebrate her 90th birthday. Throughout her life Grace enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and cribbage with her husband and family. Grace was always a lady. Grace was the last of her siblings being predeceased by one sister Marian; brothers, Stan, Bert, Reg and Cliff and her dear son-in-law Bill in 2003. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Patricia Coleman and son Allan Magnacca and daughter-in-law Betty, as well as grandchildren, Greg Coleman, Jeff Coleman, Barbara Campbell, Scott Magnacca, Mark Magnacca and Elizabeth Zucchiatti, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Grace's family is grateful for the loving care received from the staff at Golden West and especially thankful to loving caregivers, niece Neilda, Pat and Ethel. A service of celebration of Grace's life will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., on Friday, January 28 at 11:30 a.m. Interment of the ashes will take place later in Brandon. If friends so desire a donation in Grace's memory may be made to Golden West Centennial Lodge Memorial Fund, 833 School Rd., Winnipeg, R3Y 0S8, St. Matthew's Cathedral Memorial Fund, 403 - 13th St., Brandon, R7A 4P9, or the charity of their choice.
