ASMUNDUR GISLI (ASI) FREEMAN On January 20, 2005 at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB, Asmundur Freeman, aged 68 years of Oakview, MB. Dad was born in Eriksdale, on December 18, 1936. He lived in Siglunes until the age of four, when his family moved to the homestead at the Narrows. Dad not only farmed and fished alongside his father, but in 1956 his family originated The Narrows Snack Bar and Campground until selling it in 1971. Dad enjoyed many hours working on the ferry with Uncle Lully until the opening of the bridge in 1968. Dad married mom in May 1963 and they continued to live on the farm until his passing. One could always find Dad outside working on his yard or machinery, or in the house reading a good book or watching westerns. He loved the outdoors and had a great love of hunting and fishing. He continued to commercial fish until an accident in 2001 left him unable to go on the lake. We spent many hours driving through the fields scouting for our next hunt, checking the cattle in the pasture or picking bottles in the ditch. On any occasion, you could always count on Dad for a good story. His sense of humour and his tall tales will be sadly missed. Dad's great passion was his grandchildren. There was always a sparkle in his eye and a smile on his lips whenever they were near. Afi enjoyed teaching them nursery rhymes, giving la-la's and teaching them how to wink. He took great pride in watching them play hockey, skate, play soccer, dance and catching their Christmas concerts. His endless supply of popeye candies always kept them coming back for more. Dad will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years, Eleanor; daughters, Kelly (Kevin), Alexis (Darren); grandchildren, Haldon Cannonball, Karly Snooks, Carter Sweetpea, Kowan Porkchop, Kelsey and Kally Lucky and Lucy; a brother Charles (Myrtle); sister Fern; mother-in-law Helen Yanke; brothers-in-law, Ron (Marie), Barry (Barb), Rob (Donna), Jeff (Cindy); along with many nieces, nephews and good friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Alec and Elizabeth Freeman; father-in-law Art Yanke; and brother-in-law Andy Zastre. Funeral service will be held on 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26 at the Siglunes Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. A private family interment to follow at Oakview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gordon Kernested, Gary Sveistrup, Frank Stoneham, Keith Kakoske, Grant Henderson and Willie Stewart. The family wishes to thank Dr. Burnet, the staff at E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital and staff of Lakeshore Ambulance services for their care that they provided Dad with and thank you to Arnason's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild, Box 474, Eriksdale, MB ROC OWO. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768-2072
