FREDERICK JOHN MACPHERSON Peacefully, on January 23, 2005, Frederick MacPherson passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 84 years. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Ida; his children, Randall (Paula), Judith Clachrie (Rob) of Calgary, Elaine and Ritchie (Janet) of Seattle; his grandchildren, Michael, Alan and Lee; Colin and Allison; Alexandra and Charles; by his sister-in-law Gertrude of Langley, BC; his brother Leonard (Sheila) of Ottawa; sisters, Charlotte of Winnipeg, Dorothy of Courtney, BC and brother-in-law Hal Sigurdson (Lorraine) of Gimli; and by many other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by brother James; sister May; and sisters-in-law, Merelyn Sigurdson and Connie Sigurdson. Fred was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg and a proud graduate of Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute. During the Second World War Fred spent three years with the RCAF overseas where he developed many close friendships that helped shape his beliefs and outlook on life. Shortly after his return in 1945 he met Ida and attended the University of Manitoba. In 1949 Fred and Ida were married in Winnipeg where their four children were born and raised. Fred's entire career was spent in the construction business, first as an estimator and manager and later as general manager of Paragon Construction Company and finally as owner of MacPherson Construction Company. Fred enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Gimli which was the scene of many happy occasions with family and friends. We will all remember and cherish his unique wry sense of humour which was ever-present. Fred was an avid bridge player, both with his regular bridge club of many years as well as with family and friends. Fred also had a special place in his heart for Scotland which he visited first during the war and again in later years while on vacation with Ida. A memorial service for Fred will be held at Thomson In the Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Thursday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation, (204) 831-2115. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nurses, HCAs and staff of Tower 7 of DLC for their wonderful care and support of our husband, father and grandfather. Teach me your mood, O patient stars, Who climb each night the ancient sky, Leaving on space no shade, no scars, No trace of age, no fear to die. Emerson
