Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (ELSIE) STASIUK September 21, 1921 - January 22, 2005 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Elsie, with her daughter Corinne and son-in-law Ken by her side, on January 22, 2005 at the Benito Health Centre. Elsie was born on September 21, 1921 in Vesna, SK to the late John and Michelina Hrabarchuk. On February 5, 1939, she wed her loving husband, Mike, in Arran, SK. Originally residing in Benito, their lives together took them to Beardmore, ON, Inwood and Teulon, MB as they pursued various careers while supporting and raising their family. They returned to Benito, which they always referred to as home for extended periods between journeys, finally retiring there in 1986. Touching the lives of many, she will be sadly missed and always remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunty, mother, grandma (Baba), great-grandma, and friend. Elsie lived for her family and friends. She was a special mother who nurtured her children and grandchildren, bestowing them with love and kindness. Known for her tenacity and hard work, she gave generously of her time in each community she resided. She spent many hours working with various church, seniors and community groups. Her creative side was captured through her crafts and crochet, and she loved gardening with a special fondness for the beauty of flowers. She was very fond of music and touched many with her angelic voice at gatherings of friends and family. She found richness and was able to bring joy to even the toughest of times. Never too busy to lend a helping hand, always having time to play, she brought cheer with her mischievous smile and infectious laughter. She left many full and contented after dining on her exemplary cooking. Elsie was predeceased by her brothers, Walter, Mike, and Joe; and sisters, Stella, Ida, Veronica, Cassie, and Mary. Elsie is survived by her husband Mike of 65 years, who redefined the meaning of love during her lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer's; her sons, Rodney (Pat) of Campbell River, BC, Ken (Noreen) Stasiuk of Beausejour, MB, and Randall of 150 Mile House, BC; daughter Corinne (Ken) Plourde of Athabasca, AB; sisters, Jean Zaharachuk of Winnipeg, and Vonda Grywacheski of Yorkton, SK. She also leaves many memories with her cherished grandchildren, Ken Jr., Dale, Denise, Derek, Sharon, Keith, Julie, Anita, Dana, Nataya, Ava, and Nola; and great-grandchildren, Melissa, Samantha, Denan, Stevie, Travis, Michael, Tyson, Alex, Shana, Evan, and Ethan; in addition to numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Pallbearers for the funeral will be Lorne Mydynski, Paul Mydynski, Gerald Hrabarchuk, Richard Hrabarchuk, Terry Papp, and Perry Statkevich. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Bias and Mike Kinaschuk. Viewing and special prayers will be held at the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church in Benito on Wednesday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m., with the funeral service on Thursday, January 27 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Ed Kwiatkowski officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Benito Health Centre for their loving care, support, and compassion for the past six years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benito Health Care Centre in Memory of Elsie Stasiuk. The time has come to say goodbye We all feel moistness in each our eye Wishing you peace among angels in your resting place Cleansing tears streaming down each our face You may be gone but not forgot You have touched us all in ways you knew not Thank you dear wife, sister, and friend Mother and Baba to the very end.
