Arnold was born July 28, 1930 in Barrie, ON, in the early years of his life his family moved often, eventually settling in Vancouver where he attended school. At a young age he developed a love for swimming and competed as a member of the University of British Columbia swim team. He later became a lifeguard at Crystal Pool and English Bay in British Columbia and played competitive rugby for a few years. He met his wife Dolores in Vancouver where they were married on December 3, 1955. As a couple they were often first out on the dance floor and enjoyed jiving and waltzing all evening long. His working life revolved around sales which eventually brought him to Winnipeg. Arnold worked hard for his family and others, lending a helping hand wherever possible. He was active in the community as well, where he served on many committees and was involved in football and hockey as a coach, manager and trainer. Playing golf and camping were also favourite pastimes. The family spent many evenings around the campfire at Rushing River and Blue Lake in Ontario. He enjoyed watching his son drag race at Gimli, Fargo and Brainerd, MN. He drove the tow vehicle and liked to help work on the race car where he came to be known as the Crewchief . He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dolores, his daughter Barbara Romagnoli and her husband Don, his son Scott and his wife Carole along with their children, Anne and Tom, his brother-in-law Jim and his nephew David, as well as many friends and colleagues.
