EMMA BURNS (nee REITER) Peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2005, Emma passed away after an amazing 95 years of life. Emma was born on February 21, 1909 on a farm in Germany. She moved to Canada when she was 21 and married Gilmore Burns in 1934. Together they farmed near Giroux and raised their two children. After her husband passed away in 1973, Emma lived a very active life up until the end, just like she always wanted. Emma leaves behind to remember her incredible life, her two children, Donald (Helen) and Doris (Robert); her five grandchildren, Gregory, Brenda (Geoff), Darren (Janine), Tammy (David), and David. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Myles, Dylan, Delia, Noah, Celeste, Simon, and the newest, baby Emma. Emma will be remembered for her love of life, especially long walks, playing cards, doing puzzles and spending time with her many friends and family. She will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road with viewing one half hour prior. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
