MILDRED VIVIAN NEGRICH (MCCURDY) Peacefully at her home on January 23, 2005, our loving mother passed away surrounded by her family. Our mother finally succumbed to her 12 year battle with cancer. Mom is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Bernie), Sandra (Gerald), Donna (Ken), Doreen, Debbie (Dieter); sons, Bill and Rick (Teresa); grandchildren, Douglas, Michelle, Gregory, Allen, Robert, Nikki-Lynn, Chad, Clinton, Dennis Jr., Bryan, Branden and Lewis; great-grandchildren, Eric, Jonathon, Rhian and Jack. Mom is also survived by her special brother Carmen of Kelowna. Mom was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1984; her parents Dan and Nellie McCurdy; brothers, Daniel, Archie; and sisters, Laura, Dora and Verlie. She also was predeceased by her special companion Steve Jackowski. Mildred was born January 26, 1921, in the small prairie town of Lampman, SK. Mom lived a wonderful childhood on her parent's farm till she was approximately 18 years old. She often spoke of how beautiful the Saskatchewan prairies were. Our mother lived through the dirty 30s and many hardships that life on the prairie had, but we never heard our mother complain. Later in her early 20s, our mother moved to Winnipeg and met her love. She married Bill in 1943 and started their exciting life. Their first years of marriage produced three daughters. During the Second World War our mother was on her own, as dad was being readied for deployment overseas. She did her best to take care of her three daughters during these hard times. Later in the 50s mom had two more daughters. The little two-room house that dad had built had to be removed for mom's dream house. Mom and dad bought land in East St. Paul and this was where mom found her love for gardening, flowers and warm summer night parties with family and friends. During the early 60s mom brought two more children into the family, two boys to bring mom's flock to seven children. Mom was in her glory to have seven children fill her life and home. Soon after the boys were a little older, mom took on the roll of a school bus driver for River East School Division. She did this for approximately 15 years to help the family along. For all the children that mom drove in those years, they all often relayed how nice our mother was to them. Our mother always provided her children with everything they needed. Loving, caring and being proud were only a few of our mother's attributes. She was there for her children at all times, and in the end she was rewarded back tenfold by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our mother encountered many hardships in life, but she never complained and faced all the challenges with a smile, dignity and grace. She was truly a beautiful lady. We have lost our mother, but she lives on through her children. Rest in peace, our beautiful mom. Our family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Mr. Mark Taylor and Dr. Vajcner for their superior surgical skills and the personal treatment of our mother. Your kind hearts and words during these years were inspirational. Whenever our mother left your offices, she left feeling there was a better road ahead. You both always provided hope. Thank you! Thanks to Dr. Lotacki for his guidance and friendship. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of mom's life will be held on Saturday, January 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Hwy. A reception to follow at East St. Paul Senior Centre at 262 Hoddinott Rd. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler Ave @ Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
