CAROLE GOLD Peacefully, at home on January 25, 2005, aged 64. Beloved wife of Max Roytenberg. Loving daughter of Edith and the late Nathan Gold. Devoted mother to Daniel, David, Deborah (Charash) and Judi (Jaeger). Cherished Nanny of Galit, Ariel, Shachar, (Meir Charash) Jonathan and Michael Roytenberg, (Dora Benbaruk) Nicholas and Emma (Wilfred Jaeger). Dear sister of Myra Gold and Dahlia Gold and loving aunt of Irit (Battaglia) of Tally Ackenine (Hazan). For over 30 years Carole was a pioneer and innovator in her chosen profession of simultaneous interpretation conference organization, in Canada, and internationally, promoting, by example, and through her company, InterpretCan, excellence and professionalism, while always extending a helping hand to aspiring new colleagues. Remembered forever for her generous heart, incredible strength, and vision, Carole earned the respect of her colleagues and was an inspiration to everyone she met. Converting adversity into opportunity, Carole built a professional career through sheer ability, persistence and tenacity after coming to Canada as a new immigrant, balancing the roles devoted wife, loving mother and business professional at the highest levels of Canadian business and government. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27 at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Ave., Ottawa (corner of Smyth Road) at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at the New Jewish Cemetery (Osgoode). Shiva at 1870 Barnhart Pl., Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Jewish National Fund or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre Foundation (Breast Cancer Research).
