EDWARD L. SEDLESKI Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Edward Lewis Sedleski on Monday, January 24, 2005 at the age of 73 years. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, June of 52 years of marriage; his children, Brian (Debbie), Bruce (Lorna), Bonny (Mike) and Michael (Shauna); grandchildren, Kristian, Andrew, Justin, Jessica and Benjamin; great-grandson Devon; his brothers, Norman (Shirley) Sedleski and Ernie (Mona) Sedleski; his sisters, Nancy (George) Grahame and Betty (Matt) Slowe; and by many other family members and friends. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Nettie Sedleski. Ed was born and raised in Komarno, MB and in 1950, he moved to Winnipeg, where he met June. They were married in 1953 and together raised four wonderful children. Although Winnipeg was their home, the family would spend many memorable days at the farm in Komarno along with the rest of the Sedleski family. In 1954, Ed began working for Canada Post, holding many different jobs within the organization and making many lifelong friends. He was active in the National Post Office Curling Event and spent many years on the National Executive Committee where he organized and attended curling events throughout Canada. Ed was a huge sports fan and always had the television on to watch the big curling, hockey or football game. He also worked part-time for Pestrak Security, which gave him the luxury of watching all the Jets and Bomber games in person. In 1990, Ed retired after 36 years of service with Canada Post. He was actively involved in the establishment of the Heartland Chapter of the Post Office Heritage Club. Ed loved going into the office to meet his friends and organize events for the retirees of the Post Office. He enjoyed his retirement years, spending time on the golf course, at the curling rink and at the race track. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and spent many days with them, watching them participate in sports or school events and was always willing to help out family when the need arose. Ed also enjoyed travelling and spent many summers touring North America with his family in the camper trailer. His travels also took him and June to France, Spain, Mexico and Venezuela, however, his favourite destination was the Okanogan Valley (especially during peach season). Ed's mild mannerism and his friendly and easy going nature, will leave a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A gathering of family and friends, for a tribute to Ed's wonderful life, will be held on Monday, January 31 in the Army, Navy and Air Force Veteran's Hall, 1395 Ellice Ave. at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Our family would like to extend their special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Harris and the staff at the Grace Hospital Cancer Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Ed's memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. My sincere sympathy goes out to Ed's family, his siblings in particular. I can easily recall all the good times we had while growing up in Komarno where we were classmates. In those early days it was a one room school so everyone was a schoolmate. - Posted by: Adam Bodnarus (Acquaintance) on: Jan 29, 2005

I received word this morning from Luc Meunier of Quebec that Ed had passed. I was fortunate to have known Ed during my last 10 years working at Canada Post especially during our many curling events during those years. I always found Ed to be a warm and pleasant man who was thoughful, insiteful and a pleasure to work with. I know that he volunteered many hours of his time worthwhile causes. Our thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Rob & Kelly Truthwaite (Friend) on: Jan 27, 2005
