NELLIE CAZAKOFF (nee DUTOFF) Nellie Cazakoff, late of Benito, MB passed away peacefully January 20, 2005 at the Swan River Hospital in Swan River, MB. Nellie was born November 25, 1910 in the Village of Simeonovka, two and one half miles west of Benito. She lived in the Pelly District, attending the Racing Lake School. November 9, 1930, she married John G. Cazakoff and they started their own farming operation in the Lilly Vale District. They purchased a farm near Arran, SK where they made their home until 1949, when they moved to a farm near Benito. In 1955 they went into business for the John Deere Company in Benito, where Nellie worked in partnership with John. In 1958, they transferred to Hyas, SK where they remained for the next three years. In 1961, they returned to Benito and continued to sell John Deere parts and Degelman stone pickers. They remained active in the business until John's illness in November 1985. In 1986 she moved to the Thunderhill Court in Benito. One of Nellie's greatest passions was singing in the Benito and Kamsack Russian choir. One of her proudest moments was having the opportunity in 1984 to sing with the Golden Agers choir in the Playhouse Theatre in Winnipeg. She loved to spend time with family and friends and those memories will be cherished by all. She was predeceased by her husband John G.; parents, Hanna and Nick; brothers, Mike, Les and Nick; and sisters, Mary and Florence. Nellie will be sadly missed by her children, Jack (Yvonne) of Arran, Joe (Fran) of Thunderhill and Mabel (Alan) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Loretta (Brian), Debbie (Orest), Tammy, Dale (Erin), Mark, David, Crystal (Scott) and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Logan, Calvin, Richard and Annie; and many nieces, nephews and many friends. John N. Cazakoff conducted the funeral service from the E. Andrychuk Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on January 24. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery, Kamsack, SK. Pallbearers were Dale Cazakoff, Trevor Wieler, Orest Nimetz, Annie Cazakoff, Donnie McDill and Raymond Kostiuk. Honorary pallbearers were Debbie Nimetz, Crystal Barenz, Scott Barenz, Mark Cazakoff, David Cazakoff and Lisa Potten. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benito Library, Box 220, Benito, MB R0L 0C0.
