Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERDUN K. WOOD Peacefully on January 27, 2005, Verdun passed away at the Holy Family Nursing Home after a brief illness. Verdun is survived by his twin daughter Beverley Mitchler; son-in-law Dario Palleva; grandchildren, Lisa Tallaire (Maurice) and Anthony Palleva; also by great-grandchildren, Taylor and Zachary Tallaire; nieces Elsie (Ron) Brow, Merle Keck and Joan Sipley (Mel); and family and many friends especially Vic and Dorothy Martin. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth; twin daughter Barbara Palleva; son-in-law Harold Mitchler; also his parents Harriet and Orlando Wood; brother Harry; sisters, Ollie and Eleanor. Vern was born on August 10, 1918 and born and raised in Winnipeg. He served in the Canadian Army from 1940 to 1941 as a gunner. He was employed by Air Canada (T.C.A.) for 37 years until he retired in 1980 due to health problems. Vern was a very friendly person and liked to go to the Marigold to chat with his friends until his health would not let him do so. Dad, we will you miss you very much and will always love and cherish your memories forever. Vern will be deeply missed by all who know him. Dad, you are now with Mom and Barb in God's peaceful garden. A special thank you to the Home Care and the staff on the 5th floor at Holy Family Nursing Home for their compassionate care of my dad during his short stay. A special thank you to Dr. Babick and special thanks to my friends for being there for me at this time of sorrow. Rest in Peace Dad. In accordance with Vern's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
