WILLIAM (WASYL) SAWCHUK "UNCLE BILL" May 8, 1917 - January 24, 2005 Bill smiled and waived for the last time on Monday, January 24, 2005 at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, at the age of 87 years. Dad is survived by his son Allan Sawchuk of Vancouver; daughter Lisa (Ken) Luckwell; grandsons, Kristopher and Dustin; great-grandson Dawson Jandrew-Luckwell; sisters, Nell (Mike) Urban of Winnipeg and Irene Dixon of Burlington; many nieces and nephews, and special angels, Lloyd and Penny Urbanowski. Bill was born at Mears, Manitoba (North of Rossburn), the third of nine children to Peter and Helen (nee Kohuch) Sawchuk. A veteran of the Second World War, he worked in the coal mines in Geraldton, owned and farmed in Dufrost, Manitoba for many years, and later moved to Fort Garry in Winnipeg, where he worked for various construction companies as a heavy-duty machine operator. Dad had many angels who watched over him in his life and we will forever be grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service is planned for May, 2005, at Rossburn, Manitoba. Heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff and caregivers at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home. OK, BOYS !! THOMSON IN THE PARK Funeral Home and Cemetery 1291 McGillivray Blvd - 925-1120
