However Norm chose to pursue a career with the Winnipeg Police Department. He earned the rank of Sergeant and retired from the force in 1989 after 33 years of service. He was affectionately known as Siggy to his coworkers. During his retirement Norm enjoyed golfing with his buddies and spent many happy hours with his much loved miniature horse Willie . Mourning his loss are his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy (Irwin); his children, Alice (Miles) Chester of Cochrane, AB and their children, Daniel, Kyle and Pamela; Gale (Larry) Carefoot of Dugald, MB and Gale's children, Tiffany and Jeremy; Allan (Suzanne) Sigurdson of Morden, MB and their children, Kiera, Teja and Boden; Ingrid (Garth) Hyland of Calgary, AB; sisters, Jean (Elmer) Kumhyr of Raleigh, NC and Thelma Gadsby of Edmonton, AB, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
