OLGA (BABA) MIROSH September 25, l910 - January 27, 2005 Suddenly, at her home, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 94. Olga was predeceased by her husband, Fred in 1977, a brother Walter, sister Alma and parents, Gustaf and Emma. She is survived by daughter Elizabeth (Larry) Grzebeniak; son Walter (Isabel); grandchildren, Wendy (Clark) Myers, Tammy (Rob) Kiliwnik, Barry (Karey) Grzebeniak, Karina (Glenn) Barr, and David (Vernelle) Mirosh. Baba's special angels were great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Emily, Ariel, Serena, Taylor, Lydia and Kaley. Also survived by sister Elsa, nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany, Canada and the United States. In 1929, at the age of 19, Olga came to Canada to pursue a better life. In 1937, she married Fred Mirosh and they settled in the Point Douglas area. She stayed at home to raise a family and helped her husband run the family business, Pritchard Boat Yard. Family was the most important thing to her. Her home was always open to family and friends. She was a marvellous cook and you never went hungry at Baba's. Her greatest pleasure was to work in her yard. Her flowers and vegetables were the envy of the whole neighbourhood. She had a wonderful sense of humour and had the ability to even laugh at herself. We will miss her dearly. LOVE YOU If friends so desire a donation may be made in Baba's memory to a charity of their choice. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, at 10:00 a.m., at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Baba was one of the nicest and loving people that I have ever known. She always had something nice to say about everyone and always had the ability to make you smile. The times that I went with either Tammy or Wendy to visit her home I remember her making me feel like part of the family. She will be in our thoughts and hearts forever. - Posted by: Laurie Smith (Friend) on: Feb 02, 2005

  • I never knew my grandparents and I always enjoyed visiting "Baba" with my friend Wendy when we were growing up. Baba was always there for the Ukrainian dancing concerts, birthday parties, showers, weddings and new babies! She was a "Baba" that everyone wished for and she was blessed to have such a wonderful family. - Posted by: Marie Tulloch (Friend) on: Jan 31, 2005

  • Baba was the most thoughtful selfless person one could ever meet. Her heart was open to every one, no judgments, no disappointments just open arms and pure unconditional love for every one. Although we can no longer kiss your cheek you will always live in our hearts and in every thing we do. We love you Baba !! Barry and Karey - Posted by: Karey (Family) on: Jan 31, 2005

  • Dear Family: Our thoughts are with you as an era comes to an end. Each one of you were her whole life and you should be very , very proud of yourselves for surrounding your mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with love every day of her life. That was what gave her the strength to live to such a ripe old age. She was a precious lady and I have beautiful childhood memories of her always making me feel so special. That was one of her many fine gifts. Celebrate her life! You were so lucky to have her for so long! - Posted by: Stan & Helen Kwiatkoski (Friend) on: Jan 31, 2005
