MARY IRENE WERHUN (nee GREGOR) Mary Irene Werhun (nee Gregor) died peacefully on January 26, 2005 at Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 94 years. Mary was born June 16, 1910 in Kobaki, Kosiv, Austria. Mary is survived by her daughter Joan (Larry); sons, Ed, Victor, Fred (Betty), Ken (Sharon); daughters, Shirley (Alex) and Judy. She will be sadly missed by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband Joe in December, 1966; daughter Eileen; son Bill; sisters, Eva, Anne, and her brother Daniel. Mary was a kind and caring person who enjoyed the outdoors. As an active member of her community, she was a leader for the local Boy Scouts chapter and a dedicated volunteer in her church, St. Paul's Anglican Church. Mary loved her family and everything that she did for them was out of love. After her husband passed away, Mary began to travel extensively visiting her family, learning to paint and continuing to enjoy her garden, sewing, baking and knitting. In addition to singing she enjoyed playing the harmonica and organ. Mary taught and passed along to all her children and grandchildren the importance of love, respect and generosity to one another. Many thanks go to the wonderful nursing staff at Maples Personal Care Home and a special thank you to Linda, Mary's personal care assistant for many years. In accordance with Mary's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 4 with interment to follow. The service will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Mary's memory may be made to the Maples Personal Care Home, 500 Mandalay Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2P 1V4.
