RUSSELL BRUCE KEELER 1915 - 2005 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Bruce Keeler, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle on January 29, 2005 at the Grace General Hospital. Bruce is lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years Jean; his son Ross and wife Linda (Emma); and his children, Michael, Danny and Heather; daughter Suzan and husband Murray (Scott and Kayla); his daughter-in-law Johnna Keeler and her son Patrick and wife Joanne; and his brother Dan (Pat) Keeler. Bruce was predeceased by his son Richard; his mother and father, Gladys and Ross Keeler; his brother Craig Keeler; his sister Cora Stone; and his in-laws, Nick and Nelly Spilchuk. Bruce was born in Davidson, SK on August 6, 1915. He attended school in Davidson where he completed his high school. He farmed for his father in Davidson during the depression years and in 1936 he left to attend the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, where he graduated with his degree in Civil Engineering in 1941. After his graduation, Bruce went to Toronto where he completed an Aircraft Inspection Course. Upon completion of this course he was posted in Winnipeg with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer. It was during this time he met and married his wife Jean. Bruce and Jean then settled down in Winnipeg and began raising their family. Bruce began a career with the Canadian National Railroad in 1947 as a Civil Maintenance Engineer in the Bridges and Structures Division. He retired from this position in 1979. Bruce was involved in the Blessed Virgin Mary Church men's club where he served as secretary and on the building committee during construction of the Parish Residence. Bruce enjoyed many summers at the family cottage in Lakeshore Heights. He enjoyed fishing, working with his hands, and spending time with his family. Bruce was a kind and compassionate man, who always had a smile on his face, especially when his grandchildren came to visit. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
