SARA BROWN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sara Brown, on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the Selkirk District General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Sara was predeceased by her husband Earl in 1995 and her parents, John and Katherine Bender. She will be sadly missed by her son Lorne (Debbie); daughter Dale Brown; grandchildren, Crystal (Glenn) Grove and Sharisse Brown; and her precious great-granddaughter, Trinity Grove. She also leaves her brothers, Robert (Mary) Bender and Gordon (Gladys) Bender; and sisters, Kay Zimmerman, Irene Dechert and Pearl Solberg. Mom loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She will be remembered for all her great cooking and baking over the years and her love given to all. Sara was born in Flowing River, SK and spent her childhood years in Ernfold, SK. She later moved to Manitoba where she worked in the clothing industry as a seamstress supervisor. She then married her husband Earl on July 20, 1951 and resided in the west end of Winnipeg. In 1962 they moved to St. Andrews where she resided until moving to Betel Home. At Sara's request cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery on Thursday, February 3. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Selkirk General Hospital and the paramedics for their quick response and all their efforts. Also thanks to the nursing staff at the Betel Home in Selkirk for their kind and compassionate care given to our mother over the last four years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0A1. Rest in peace, Mom. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dear Family, I met your Mom when visiting my Dad Walter Danko. They sat at the front table for quite some time. Your Mom was a dear lady and I enjoyed talking to her and asking her if she enjoyed her supper or lunch. She usually said "ya". I hope your memories help you during this sad time. - Posted by: janet Martin (Friend) on: Feb 02, 2005
