ELLEN AGNES FOLSTER (AGGIE) April 14, 1924 - January 31, 2005 Peacefully, on January 31, 2005, at the age of 80, our beloved mother, sister and nan passed away at the Health Science Centre. Predeceased by her parents, Alexander James and Mary Elizabeth Folster; sons, Arnold and a son in infancy; her husband Frank; brothers, Dave and Ernest. Left to mourn, her son John; grandson Raymond; granddaughter Angela; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Alexis; sister Gladys; and her dear friend Lizzie Carlson; many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Aggie was born in Grand Marais, MB. She spent most of her life living in Scanterbury, MB where she met Frank. Together they ran the store in Scanterbury until they retired and closed the store. This was their home where her family was raised. Aggie worked for many years as a home care aide at the Scanterbury Elders Home. One of Aggie's favourite pastimes was bingo, until her sight started to deteriorate you could bet that she and Frank were off to many of their favourite spots to play bingo. After her father passed in 1982, Aggie moved to Selkirk, to the Parkview Manor to care for her mother until her passing in 1992. This is the place that Aggie continued to reside at for the last 22 years. She made many lifelong friendships at the block . Aggie was blessed with one of the biggest hearts, the word no was not part of her vocabulary especially when it came to her grandchildren, Angela and Raymond Lumachee , and later on her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Alexis whom she could not have been more proud of and often said that's my heart . Her family was her greatest love, and she loved each and every one unconditionally. If nothing else, it was important to Nan, that we learnt the importance of unconditional love for each other, she was always saying, love one another . The family would like to thank Nan's home care worker Lorraine for the care she provided to her daily over the years. Special thank you to the doctors and nurses and the Selkirk and District General Hospital for the care given to Aggie during her many stays. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the GD3 stepdown unit at the Health Sciences Centre for their excellent care and compassion for Aggie in her short stay there. As per her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, with Rev. Judy Whitmore officiating. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, and the many friends and neighbours at the block. Interment of ashes to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Council of the Blind, Manitoba Division, Inc. at 305-960 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R4 in Aggie's memory. Life Does Not End Here I've passed from this life, I've moved on to the kingdom, Of years past, untold. Should a single tear be shed for me, Perhaps running down any one's face. Let that tear simply say that I miss you, For this reason alone as all you now lack, Is my being there, with you in body or in person, And no grief shed or shown, can bring me back. Be assured that I am always with you. In spirit, in thought, indeed everywhere, Praying that the Lord might look after you. With his angels, his special love and care. Somewhere up in Heaven, You know, I'll be. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
