Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE LILLIAN KNIGHT (nee CHAPMAN) February 22, 1917 - January 31, 2005 It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mom and Nana on Monday, January 31, 2005, at the Grace General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis; her parents; and sisters, Joyce and Wilma. Irene leaves to mourn her son Dennis and his wife Lynn; grandchildren, Kimberley and Cameron of Vancouver, BC; daughter Donna and her husband Tom; and grandchildren, Tom and Dan of Winnipeg. Irene was born in Isabella, MB, on February 22, 1917, to Florence and Arnott Chapman. In 1933, Irene left the farm at the age of 16 to come to Winnipeg. It was in Winnipeg that she met and married Dennis, her loving husband for 47 years. She worked at the Hudson Bay Company and in later years worked as a Beauty Councillor of Canada representative, a Welcome Wagon Hostess and then Sears at the catalogue department. In her youth, Irene was extremely active and though she slowed down somewhat in later years, she always had a real smile and loved a good time. Mom's greatest pleasure was being surrounded by her family and friends. Mom was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, Come with Me. We would like to thank the staff and her friends at the Westhaven on Portage Avenue where Mom spent the last 15 years of her life. These people became her extended family and made her life a real joy. We would also like to thank Dr. Colin Fletcher of the Assiniboine Clinic for helping Mom attain a good quality of life over the past several years. Our thanks as well to the nursing staff on the 2nd floor of the Grace Hospital for the care and compassion they gave Mom in her final days. Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 4 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. According to Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6, or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca

A super aunt..loved her a lot... I remember the wonderful dinners at her home on Douglas Park Road with Uncle Dennis, and cousins Denny and Donna...a fantastic cook and homemaker, and worked full and part time for most of her life, with 2 kids. A pretty amazing woman. She was very unpretentious, and real. I liked that. And always there for everyone, in tough times. If she is not standing close to God, nobody is. I miss her. - Posted by: Craig Simmie (Nephew) on: Jun 13, 2019
