MARY LESOSKY (nee SMYRSKI) Peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at her residence in Fred Douglas Lodge, Mary died at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew; an infant daughter; and her daughter and son-in-law, Nellie and Frank Michalow. Mary is survived by her daughter Agnes (Ernie) Chorney; sons, Tom (Pearl) and Joe (Lill); 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Tena, Pauline and Anne; brother Peter; half-sisters and brothers, Joe, Helen, David, Audrey, Norman and Brian; and numerous nieces and nephews. Known as the Perogy Queen , Mary was born to Anton and Nellie Smyrski in Stead, MB on July 7, 1915. She grew up, married Andrew and raised her children in Thalberg, MB. In 1964, she and Andrew moved to Winnipeg. To her grandchildren, she was Baba and to her great-grandchildren, she was Ganzee . She kept us well supplied with perogies and woolen slippers. She loved being with friends and family - dancing, singing or playing cards. Because of Alzheimer's disease, we slowly faded from her memory, but we will never forget our mother, Baba , and Ganzee and her love for us. Cremation has taken place and a service in celebration of her life will be held in June, 2005 in Thalberg. A further notice will follow. In lieu of flowers, friends and family can make donations in her memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to a charity of their choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
