CORDELIA CECELIA KORELL (nee REICHERT) Peacefully with her family by her side, Corky passed away on Friday, January 28, 2005 at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 72 years. She will be greatly missed by her husband, John Korell of 51 years of marriage; her children, Brian (Gloria), Karen (Peter), Lisa (Don); seven precious grandchildren, Miranda (Stephen), Jennifer, Tyler, Brittany, Kristen, Dallas, Meagan; great-grandson Jeremy; brother Raymond (Judy); sister Pat (Mervin); and nieces, Candace, Andrea, Kelly (Jeff) and Melissa (David). Corky was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Catherine. Born in Camp Morton on December 6, 1932, she married her husband John and resided in Elmwood and Transcona where she raised her family. Her greatest passion was her love for her grandchildren and great-grandson. Watching them grow and supporting them in their various endeavours was something she treasured to her last days. Corky also loved spending time in the kitchen cooking for family and friends. Tending to and caring for her flower garden at the family cottage was one of her favourite hobbies along with making a variety of crafts and flower arrangements. She was very active in her community Parish of St. Joseph The Worker. Her faith and dedication to her religion helped her immensely in her final days. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Wednesday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph The Worker Roman Catholic Church, 505 Brewster St. with Rev. Fr. Richard Machura presiding. Interment followed in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Honorary pallbearers were Jerome Marks, Marvin Marks, Herman Ahrens, David Gandy, Jeff Smith and Stephen Bishop. Our family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctor and nursing staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital, 3B Ward. A very special thank you to her day nurse, Louise for her dedication and her sincere efforts to make her last days as peaceful as possible. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations in Corky's memory may be made to the Cancer Research Foundation at the St. Boniface General Hospital. The door that leads to a mother's heart is always open wide. And in her heart is a special place where peace and love abide. There is no lock on a mother's heart, her children freely go for a pat on the cheek or a comforting word, or something they want to know. Her kitchen is a treasure store that never runs dry. There's pickles, cookies, buns and breads and most delicious pie. Through years of work and prayer she's learned her wise and tender art, for the nearest thing to the love of God is the love of a mother's heart.
