Date of Passing: Feb 01, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryC.M.T. (DUTCH) DUCROIX November 21, 1938 - February 1, 2005 With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our father, C.M.T. (Dutch) DuCroix. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Anna; missed by his son Michael; daughter Sharon (Phillip); sister Berdina; brother Michael (Margaret); grandson Joshua; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Ted DuCroix; brother Marcel DuCroix; and brother-in-law Ken Shorten. Dutch was born in Nijmegen, Holland in 1938. He immigrated after the war in 1953 with family at the tender age of 14. Ever the quick study, he acquired English along the way and entered the work force to help support the household. Dutch found his true calling and lifelong passion when he joined the Canadian Armed Forces, as an administrator in 1961. He held a myriad of positions across Canada and abroad with the utmost dedication and commitment in places such as Winnipeg, Calgary, Ottawa and England. Dutch's intelligence, skills and solid work ethic did not go unnoticed. He was promoted rapidly and rose through the ranks to accomplish his career goal of becoming a Chief Warrant Officer. Serving in that capacity for several years, Dutch accepted an officer's commission to continually maximize his quest for new experiences in his military career. Major DuCroix retired in 1993. Not one to sit still for long, he joined the Commissionaires and spent leisure hours cross country skiing, voraciously reading and enjoying time with his family. A celebration of Dutch's life will be held on Saturday, February 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Charleswood Legion, 6003 Roblin Blvd. Our family would like to thank all the outstanding staff at Riverview Health Centre for the loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Dutch's memory may be made to Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
