Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN M. EVANS With deep sadness we announce the passing of my only sister Doreen on Tuesday, February 1, 2005. My sister was born to Jen and Bill Evans on June 10, 1927 and spent most of her childhood in East Kildonan attending Prince Edward School, then the newly opened Special Classes at Stadacona School. Later in her teens she attended the Kinsman School until the age of l8. As no other programs existed, she lived at home until l977 when she was able to commute from Winnipeg Beach to Special Classes at Arborg. These years were especially happy for Doreen as she lived with our mother and stepfather George Blackwell and her dog Penny. Several years later she returned to Winnipeg and attended Hope Centre which became the centre of her universe. Doreen was predeceased by her father William Robert (1965) and her mother Jen (1990) as well as her stepfather George (1977), her aunt Tillie, Dorothy Franklin and uncles, Ernie Smith, Jack Oliver, and Robert Oliver, and she will be lovingly remembered by her sister Joy and brother-in-law Albert Cumbers; her three nephews, Murray and Nancy (Nicholas and Andrea), Alan and Debbie (Elisha, Christopher and Jenna), Jay and Shelli (Michael, Stephanie); along with cousins, Gayle and Lynne, Uncle George and several cousins. When those we love have stepped across The Threshold of God's Love, They leave behind those memories Which make us love them more. Special thanks to former Marsha Dozer of ACL, Dave Isherwood formerly of Winserv, Alan Simpson of Independent Living, Irene Tallman of Social Services, Care workers Mr. and Mrs. Hiloma, (the late) Jim Dunsford, Fay Hart, Abigall Nicholl as well as Dr. Oscar and Sheilia Domkey, The Misericordia and Seven Oaks Hospitals. All of these people and institutions fought so hard to give Doreen the quality of life she deserved, including The Tuxedo Villa, Station 1 care workers, (Lydia Conopio) and special friends Donna Hope, Doreen Olsen. Cremation has already taken place and interment will be at 12:00 noon for immediate family members. Memorial services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5 at Donnelly United Church, with Rev. Robert Johannson officiating. Special thanks to Denise Whalley and her crew for all their help. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to the Association for Community Living, 120 Maryland St., Winnipeg, MB R3G lK9 or Donnelly United Church, 1226 Waller Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3T 1P6.
