DANIEL (DAN) KEVIN SMITH Our beloved Dan lost his fierce battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at the Grace Hospice, at the age of 49 years. He will be deeply missed by mom and dad; Tom and Roxie; and by his special brother Brian. Dan was born in Brandon in 1955, then moved to Winnipeg in 1963, where he attended The School for The Deaf for many years, followed by work at Versatech Industries. Recently, he was attending The Hope Centre where he made many new friends. All his life, Dan was our role model. Though born with many severe disabilities, he endured endless pain and struggles with incredible patience, strength, courage and acceptance. He has earned his rest. A private family service has been held. Interment will follow in Brandon at a later date, where Dan will be laid to rest next to his precious sister Maureen, who died in 1963, at the age of three and one half years. Our sincere gratitude goes to Richard, Georgina and family for their loving care of Dan and also, to the countless people, who are there for us in so many ways, including Dr. Pat Harris, staff and volunteers at the Grace Hospice.
