STEVEN WILLIAM BLAIR It is with profound shock and sadness that the family of Steven Blair announces his untimely death, which occurred in a motor vehicle accident near Falcon Lake, Manitoba on January 31, 2005, at the age of 45. Steven lived most of his life in Oxdrift, Ontario, and thrived in the country upbringing, on the farm, snowmobiling, camping, and preparing himself for his lifelong dream of being a trucker . He was a competitive sportsman, and embraced the roles of coach and cheerleader once he became a parent. Steve volunteered his time to the community, gearing his efforts to the local youth. With a lot of hard work, and assistance from Kim, Steve was able to realize his childhood dream of building a thriving heavy equipment contracting business. His outgoing personality and honest reputation endeared him to everyone he dealt with. Steven is survived by the love of his life, Kim, two young sons who meant the world to him, Cameron and Cody, his parents, Fran and Bill Blair, sisters Lori (Ken) Sanders, and Alison (Jim) Szabo, nieces Leslie and Krista, nephews Brenden and Blair, mother-in-law Irene Etsell, brother-in-law Earl Etsell (Mel), sister-in-law Sherry Etsell (Joe Frenette), nieces Theresa (Shaun), Jody (Mark) and Karlie. Steve is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Steve was predeceased by his grandparents, Charlie and Lily Skene, Lloyd and Ada Blair, his friend and father-in-law, Harvey Etsell, and his cousins, Rick and Greg Skene. Steve - Nothing could prepare us for your sudden departure, and you have taken a piece of our hearts with you. No family gathering will be the same - or as noisy - without you. We all love and miss you. A memorial funeral service was held Friday, February 4th at 11:00 a.m. in First United Church with Rev. Ross Lockhart officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Visitation was held Thursday, February 3, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Moffat Chapel. Should friends desire donations to the Blair Children Trust Fund through the Stevens Funeral Homes Moffat Chapel P.O. Box 412, Dryden P8N 2Z1.
