HELEN RIEDIGER (nee JANZEN) Our dear mother passed away on February 5, 2005 at the Grace Hospice in her 89th year. She was born in Muntau, one of the Mennonite colonies in Russia, on February 25, 1916, into the family of Heinrich and Helena Janzen. Like so many others, the family fled during the Revolution, arriving in Canada in 1924, settling in Winkler, Manitoba. She married Henry Riediger on September 19, 1937. After our father's passing in December 1981, mother remained active with family, church volunteer work and hobbies. In addition to her husband Henry who died in 1981, Helen was predeceased by her brother Bill. She is survived by her sons, Vern Riediger and Donald Riediger; daughters, Irene Riediger and Wendy (Peter) Peters; grandchildren, Greg and Andrew Reimer, Lisa (Blake) Moodie, Leanne and Mark Peters, and Jordan and Mathew Riediger; great-grandchildren Hanna and Maya Moodie. She also leaves her brothers, Henry and Hal (Pat) Janzen, sister Irene (Nick) Neufeld and sister-in-law Evelyn Janzen and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. A funeral service will be held at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Franz Wiebe officiating. Following a reception at the church, interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB Ruhe Sanft THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway - 783-7211
