Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELMER RUBEN SUNDIN On Saturday, February 5, 2005 Helmer passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. He was born on September 4, 1923 in Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Judith Sundin, his beloved wife Hilda (in 1989) and his sister Edna Shane (in 2001). Helmer will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his surviving sister Doris Knapp, Tom, and special friends, Susan and Ted. Helmer served in the Canadian Army from 1942-1945 and was wounded in Germany, which led to disablement in later years. He worked at Co-Op Implements for 44 years as a tool and die maker and machine shop foreman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many happy hours at his cottage at the lake. After retiring he took up golfing until his health failed so enjoyed watching T.V. movies especially westerns with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. When sisters and friends came to visit he would get out the cribbage board or Scrabble game. He spent many hours constructing and operating his train set of which he was very proud. At Helmer's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Thursday, February 10 at 12:30 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Helmer's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
