CECIL COPLEY JAMIESON April 30, 1911 - February 4, 2005 Dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Cec Jamieson, passed away at St Boniface Hospital in his 94th year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Violet; his children, Lloyd (Dorri), Ruth, Judy (Tony); his grandchildren. Marne (Bruce), Paul, Allison (Brad) and Laura (Matt); and great-grandchildren, Connor, Sawyer, Sarah and Iris. Cec also leaves to mourn him, his brother Stanley (Mavis) and sister Eva Wright. Dad was born in Bristol, QC receiving his education there and in Aylmer, QC. He joined the Royal Bank in Aylmer, worked for the Credit Bureau in Ottawa, moved to the Winnipeg Credit Bureau in 1943. Cec joined Winnipeg Supply and Fuel in 1947, eventually serving as General Credit Manager with responsibilities from the Lakehead to Vancouver. Semi-retired, he worked part time for numerous small businesses in Winnipeg and Manitoba. Cec was an active and contributing member of the United Church of Canada, from Southminster in Ottawa, Home Street, Maryland and Fort Garry Congregations in Winnipeg. He held many positions in the Church: Chairman of the Board of Home Street and Member of Winnipeg Presbytery. He was one of the last Ordained Elders in the United Church. He was a man who loved to work with young people as a facilitator and was instrumental in assisting them to establish the Latin Quarter coffee house at Home Street United Church where he and Vi were counsellors. He was a Founding Member of the St. Matthew's Maryland Community Ministry and served for many years as Treasurer. Dad belonged to the Canadian Credit Association and the Credit Grantor's Association where he served as President of the Winnipeg Association and Director of the Canadian Association. He was a member of the Canadian Credit Men's Organization (now Creditel ) serving on the Area Advisory Committee and as Chairman. He was a Director of the Winnipeg Better Business Bureau. Dad gave to his community in many ways. He was an active member of the Cosmopolitan Club of Winnipeg where he served as First Vice President and President and was made a life member. He belonged to Cosmopolitan International. He served on the Home and School and Parent Teacher Federation, holding the position of President of the Laura Secord School Association. He was many years on the volunteer board of the Seniors Job Bureau (now 50 Plus Job bank Inc.) and was treasurer and life member of the Fort Garry Historical Society. Dad enjoyed his garden in Fort Garry and found pleasure and fulfilment in relaxing and puttering at the Cottage on Falcon Lake. He is our rock and strength. His quiet humour will long be remembered. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd. on Friday, February 11 at 3:30 p.m. Many thanks to the wonderful folks in the Palliative Care units at Riverview and St. Boniface Hospitals and the home care visitors for their support and assistance during the final weeks.
