MICHAEL JOHN CHARLES FRANCHUK It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Michael Franchuk on February 7, 2005, at the age of 48. Michael leaves to mourn his mother Mildred, and stepfather Fred Smids; his sister Michele Franchuk and spouse Ken Kuchma; Michael's niece Chelsea Franchuk; as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles on his mother's side; and Aunty Mary and Uncle George on his father's side. He was predeceased by his father Michael Franchuk. Michael was born in Barrie, ON, and spent most of his life in Winnipeg. Michael had been employed at Scott National and various other places as a shipper/receiver. He also did volunteer work at Deer Lodge. Michael had a passion for oil painting, enjoyed fishing and taking care of his garden. He had a real soft spot for his sister's dog Chloe, taking her for walks in the park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Forward House Ministries, 405 Chalmers Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2L 0G3. While Michael was at Forward House for seven weeks, it gave him a chance to rebuild his life in a Christian home setting. In that short time, he found guidance and a real hope for the future. He felt at home there and made many friends who will miss him. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 11 at 10:00 a.m., at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave., Winnipeg, with Pastor Paul Clerc officiating.
