STEFAN KARNAFEL It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stefan Karnafel on Sunday, February 6, 2005, at the St. Adolphe Personal Care Home, at the age of 91 years. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Verona, of 61 years of marriage; children, Carol (John) and Peter; son-in-law John; grandchildren, Michael, Chris (Donna), Vernon (Maria), Jennifer (Bill), Frances, Frank, Shannon (David), Paul and Steven (Cherie); great-grandchildren, Joshua, Shaylene and Breylin; sisters, Kay Gelata, Margaret Chongva and Terry Enns (Harry); brother Andy Karnafel (Yolana); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his daughter Helen; parents, Michael and Anna; stepmother Maria; brother Joseph; and sister Ann. Stefan was born in the village of Levoca in Slovakia on July 15, 1913. He became a proficient and certified blacksmith before he came to Canada in 1937. In Canada, he was a farmer and worked a few winters in the bush. Stefan married Verona Futros in 1943 and they set up their own homestead and farm in Elm Grove. He devoted his life to his family and farm. Prayers will be held on Friday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Anola, MB. Mass of The Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. Mass will terminate at the church and interment will take place at a later date. Pallbearers will be Stefan's grandsons. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stefan's memory may be made to Our Lady of Hope Building Fund or to a charity of one's choice. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
