Date of Passing: Feb 08, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ALLEN POOLE John Allen Poole passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Concordia Hospital with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Evelyn of 65 years, daughter Lorraine and husband Keith Micklash, granddaughter Kim and husband Randy Hawkins, grandson Manny and wife Leona and great-grandchildren, Ty and Tory Micklash. John was born in Winnipeg on December 22, 1913 and spent his childhood on Alexander Ave. where he had many happy memories. He married his teenage sweetheart Evelyn on June 3, 1939 and shortly afterward enlisted in the Army. He returned home after the war where they built their home in East Kildonan where they spent their entire life together. He worked for many years at the family business Snowdons Furniture. John spent many happy hours at the cottage at Ponemah Beach with family and friends and in later years at their cottage in Grand Marais. He was always very busy building many cabins and boats and in his later years bird houses. He was a kind, gentle man who always had time to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed his help. He had a great sense of humour and always saw the good side of life and even though he lived a long happy life, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. We would like to send special thanks to Dr. Harvey Lee, the nurses and staff of 3 East and Dr. Alvi of Concordia Hospital for their kindness and special care at our time of need. A Celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel in Deer Lodge Centre, 2nd floor, 2109 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., R3L 0K6.
