GERHARD (GEORGE) DYCK 1926 - 2005 Suddenly George beloved husband of Sybil passed away at Grace Hospital. George will be greatly missed by his wife Sybil; his children, Valorie (Hamilton), Gerry (Calgary); stepchildren, Norma (John) Purse, Russell (JoAnne) Bagot, Eileen Bagot; stepgrandchildren, Michelle (Jeff), Shannon, Christina (Dave), Randy; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Charley, Georgia-Rae, Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews especially Betty (Norman) Casualt and the family of Dr. W. Shahariw (Victoria). The youngest of seven children, born to John and Anna Dyck and survived by his sister Margaret Siemens from High River. George was predeceased by brothers, John, Nick, Peter; and sisters, Annie Dyck and Agnes Braun. After a few years working at the Wheat board George and John Schroeder became partners in Haddon Hall Men's Wear. George also taught drivers education and was a driver and supervisor for H S and King's Limited School Buses. After retirement he continued to work as custodian for Arms of the Cross and First Mennonite Church with Sybil. His love of music included singing for the Winnipeg Philharmonic choir and still participated in the occasional choir at First Mennonite Church. He held seats on many boards and committees including Gimli Board of Health. George and Sybil spent 20 wonderful years at Whytewold. An avid golfer and curler, none will miss him more than buddies, Jake, Walter and Peter Wiebe, Dr. Peter Friesen, Veron Krueger, Harold Neufeld, Dr. Peter Enns and Vern Riediger. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame on Friday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Franz Wiebe officiating. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9. God bless you and keep you in his care.
